Introduction of Bihar Agricultural University:
There are different theories about the origin of the word Sabour. One theory is that Sabour is a distorted form of Sahora. In a book, Boudh-DharmKeSandeshvahaka compiled by Sri NagendraNath and published by Jan SamparkVibhag, Bihar, it is reported that Sahora was a province in the eastern side of Bharat. The great Budhist Shantrakshita was born in Sahora province. Sahora is the same province where great AcharyaDipankarSreegyan and Atisha were born who later went to Tibet. SahorPargana of Bhagalpur and SahorKrishi farm are still there. Another name of this Pradesh was Bhangal or Bhagala. The present Bhagalpur is named after this province Bhagala. In the province of Sahora or Bhagala, King Dev Pal of Palvansheeya, constructed a Vihar on the southern bank of river Ganga, which was known as Vikramshila. Shantrakshit of Sahor King family was born in 684 A.D. The author citing the Tibetian literature says that Sahora was a country in the east of Bharat. Its capital was Bhangalpura which is today known as Bhagalpur.
